Integrated lessons during Halloween week

During Halloween week, the students of Year 10a/E took part in exciting integrated lessons combining English, Biology, Chemistry, Technology, and ICT.

Throughout the lessons, students:

Learned about the origins and traditions of Halloween – they watched a short video in English and completed interactive tasks on Kahoot, Quizziz, and Liveworksheets.

Explored pumpkins from biological and chemical perspectives – they studied pumpkin structure, discussed chemical changes and decomposition processes, observed pumpkin cells under a microscope, and measured the pH of pumpkin juice.

Performed a DNA extraction experiment using strawberries and bananas to better understand the structure of this essential molecule.

Took part in a creative pumpkin carving activity, planning designs and combining artistic ideas with scientific thinking.

Created and presented short dialogues in English on the topic “My Halloween Pumpkin,” developing communication, creativity, and teamwork skills.

These interdisciplinary lessons applied STEAM education principles, encouraging students to explore, experiment, create, and collaborate. Learners applied biology and chemistry knowledge in practice, improved their English speaking skills, and, most importantly, contributed to a joyful and festive atmosphere before the autumn break!

The lessons were led by teachers Irma Navickienė and Jurgita Edlinskienė.

A big thank-you to our students for their creativity, curiosity, and fantastic energy!
